A Gruesome incident took place on 14 Dec, when 2 man assaulted a woman in broad daylight on the streets of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Kanpur has been home to numerous crimes in Uttar Pradesh, including cases that are not for the faint of heart. According to a decade-old report by The Times of India, Kanpur was described as a ‘No safe passage for women’ zone, a label that may still hold true today. In a gruesome recent incident, a girl was dragged through the streets by her hair, screaming for help.
A girl from Kanpur was assaulted by Vipul Yadav and Sanjay Nishad. A video of the violent act, recorded by a bystander, went viral on Twitter. Disturbingly, no one at the scene helped the poor girl, as many just stood there and watched the brutal incident.

The girl was screaming in agony as one assailant was pulling her hair, while another man was watching over the scene. After a minute of the recorded video, three women came to intervene and stop the harassment, but the man standing there pushed them away. They then tried to drag her towards their residence to perform horrible acts.
Reason behind there assault is still unknown, victim told media that they misbehaved with her and weren’t letting her go. According to the clip shared by NDTV She was slapped, dragged on street pulled by her hairs, kicked and punched on stomach and face as she resisted there hideous acts.

This video of the assault went viral and came to the attention of the local police. CCTV footage from a nearby shop was reviewed, and the assailants were identified.
Kanpur Police has now arrested the assaulters.
Harassment against women is a common crime that has not declined in the last 10 years. This raises questions about the authorities responsible for women’s safety in UP.
